Student – Clinical Responsibilities

Student Responsibilities

Students will:

  • Contact preceptor and organize practice education schedule. Must have minimum of 3 consecutive 8-hour days or, if working extended shifts, minimum of 20 consecutive hours.
  • Complete agency specific training, (i.e. EMR, E-health, confidentiality)
  • Submit practice education hours in the assignment drop box ,for clinical faculty approval.
  • Inform preceptor and clinical faculty of changes in schedule due to illness or extenuating circumstances.
  • Provide the preceptor all required feedback forms.
  • Ensure preceptor is reviewing and co-signing charting, diagnostic investigations and prescriptions.
  • Organize 3 way midterm evaluation with preceptor and clinical faculty. Clinical documents must be submitted at least 48 hours prior to the scheduled evaluations.
  • Maintain the Practice Education Patient Contact Log (daily) and condition and procedure database (throughout the program). The Practice Education Patient Contact Log will be reviewed by the clinical faculty.
  • Identify to preceptor ethical or moral concerns related to specific patient presentations (i.e., MAiD).
  • Utilize Clinical Decision Tools for practice education learning.
