Course Description

New research and clinical experiences result in ongoing changes in the drug therapy field. Students review essential information that reflects current clinical drug therapy by examining the common classification of drugs. The course content includes strategies to promote safe, and effective drug therapy and prescribing while considering the clients’ individual characteristics.

  1. Describe the Factors Related to the Safe Use of Drugs.
  2. Explain the Concepts and Processes of Drug Action.
  3. Describe the Elements of Rational Drug Prescribing.
  4. Examine the Drugs Affecting the Central Nervous System.
  5. Examine the Drugs Affecting the Autonomic Nervous System.
  6. Examine the Drugs Affecting the Endocrine System.
  7. Examine the Drugs Used to Treat Infections.
  8. Examine the Drugs Affecting the Respiratory System.
  9. Examine the Drugs Affecting the Cardiovascular and Renal Systems.
  10. Examine the Drugs Affecting the Gastrointestinal System.
  11. Examine the Drugs Used in an Emergency Situation
